About Me

Marshaan Parks is the name and  I am Columbus, Ohio native who began dancing at the age of 11 in West African Dance. Not your average BFA Dance Major to start dance so late but  I began professional training by my  junior year of high school up in to my senior year under a women named China White who danced in Dance Theatre of Harlem and was trained under a man named Arthur Mitchell the first African-American classical ballet dancer.

I have a small background in gymnastics and if you ever see me perform do note that it will  be incorporated in some way shape or form. If your wondering why it is because before I started dancing I wanted to be a gymnast believe it or not. I am also known for teaching West African dance around the community in a summer program called Traditional Dance Camp also known as (TD2) that is associated with Columbus Recreation and Parks. There I assisted in other styles of dances such as Urban Hip-hop, ballroom, ballet, step and more.

I currently am attending my second year at The Ohio State University majoring in Dance. I am apart of the Black Student Association and a dance team that goes by 3-D Urban dance group.
